Swim Las Vegas is "casting a net" to see who is up to the challenge to participate in a 6 person relay from Catalina to the CA coast. The Swimming Elvii, will consist of dedicated members who are committed to completing the task of swimming 20.2 miles in the pacific ocean.
The swim begins with a 2 hour boat ride to Catalina Island, 20.2 miles from shore. Each relay member will each swim for 1 hour and rotate until the swim has been completed. You may not wear a wetsuit. Each team consists of 6 people plus 1 alternate swimmer and a team crew leader.

SWIMMERS RESPONSIBILITIES
*Completing all training sessions (including 2 night swims) *Have the ability to swim 1650yd in 30 min or 10 x100yd on 2:00 *Be able to swim in the dark (without freaking out!) * Follow the rules of the swimming foundation. -NO WETSUITS, FINS, BUOYS- if you have to ask, this swim is not for you! *You may wear swimsuit, goggles, earplugs and swim cap *Pay for your portion of the swim *Ability to swim in cold water for 1 hour at a time with no wetsuit. Temps can fluctuate between 60-75 degrees. *Once you are committed, there is no backing out. No refunds. Your fees will be donated toward the alternate. *No refunds if you sign up, pay and fail to attend. The fees contributed will go toward the alternate swimmer. FEES: Channel swims can be quite an expensive endeavor, however as a team, you get the opportunity to split the cost 6 ways and gain valuable experience for your own individual channel crossing, or to challenge yourself in a way you did not think possible. We are not interested in the fastest swimmer, but in the swimmer with the will to do what he or she never thought possible. |
